Timothy Morahan recently took part in the Special Olympics ‘World Games’ in Los Angeles and enjoyed amazing success.

Timothy writes “The Special Olympics was held in Los Angeles. There were a lot of country teams. I was in the Irish team. Four teams represented Ireland. Munster, Connacht, Ulster and Leinster.

I was on the Eastern Region Dublin Rathmines and Wicklow Lakers team.

My favourite part was doing the races. I did the 800mtrs, Long Jump and 4 by 100 relay. I won a bronze medal in 800mtrs. I won a double silver medal in the Long Jump and 4 by 100 relay.

There was a funny situation when I wore a big silly American hat and a beard for a picture. I was sad when I finished the Special Olympics in Los Angeles. The weather was very hot.

I took the first aeroplane from Dublin to New York. I took the second aeroplane from New York to Los Angeles with the Special Olympics Irish team. I was in the Special Olympics for two weeks.

I really enjoyed the Special Olympics but I am happy that I am home.”

Huge congratulations to Timothy and everyone who took part in The Special Olympics Los Angeles 2015!

The games played host to 6,500 athletes from around the world making Timothy's achievements truly remarkable!
